While visiting some local caches in the area, I had to stop and
fill up the tank in my cachemobile with gas. The coordinates listed
are for the sign in front of a gas station that gives the current
price for the different grades of gasoline. (See the background
image for a picture I found of the prices at another station!)
I’ve been working on the encryption for this cache for quite a
while now. Part of the idea I used is based on a puzzle cache that
I truly enjoyed deciphering. To recognize the pure genius of that
puzzle I have placed this one exactly one year after it was placed.
Here is the encoded message that you must decipher to find the
cache coordinates:
RKIG MHWJ VBTR SLUX EEKU
JLBI NALC WPCE URRY ORQY OYOT JZGO FLGK GEBA YUJB KFAQ LZNJ CPOX
FCHV AISL WPCP GMBY GZZE WOYP ZXQW AKKE TYVY BONH XCNL VZQV PEKQ
ZTTG UXSC XZYF AQSM OYJZ CYIM OQKK ONCV HBWH PNDH TMOU EPHV QPVR
FXUY QISL WPJO GLTX ZJJO RFZQ OPAH FXAU XZTI DNDL JAIS ILLD QTVM
EUUY QXNR VPYE DDBN VNJD CYOX OMZY ZRKN YABW DSPS KGOQ PMNC BNRA
IJJE MZWB
To get you started I will give you an additional piece of
information. Here are the first six words of the original message
encoded this time by deleting the 1st letter of the
original key and encoding the message with this modified key:
UCOY UJDX CDWP YYVZ SWTZ
YGRD
Now all you have to do is use this information to help you crack
the code and find the magnetic cache container! Oh, did I forget to
mention what kind of cipher was used? To find that valuable piece
of information you will need to figure out the additional hint
given below.
Enjoy!
