Now, first off, I'm as sceptical as the next man when it comes to photographs that claim to show a ghost! Most of the time it's fairly obvious that it's just some sort of trick of the light, blurriness or double exposure or just plain fake! Something like......:
However, there is a recent picture taken at Cocklawburn that has the experts a little bit more of a loss to explain it away:
According to the photographer, it was a cold, bright, sunny Sunday morning, and the beach was deserted, apart from a woman in pink walking her dog. However you can clearly see standing to the left on a seam of rock not far from the woman a row of people - three adults and two children:
The adults all appear to be looking at the photographer, with one of the children appearing to be holding one of the adults hands. The other child appears to be looking out to sea.
Investigation of the local history reveals that a boy was killed in 1995 when a tunnel he was digging collapsed on him. In 1999, human remains of a man, which were estimated to be about 100 years old, were discovered in this same area of the beach.
Could this be related to the photograph?
I find it very difficult to dismiss this image as just another trick of the camera. So really it just comes down to wether or not you believe the photographer when he says that this part of the beach was deserted. You decide...
For those of you feeling brave enough to go get this cache, there is good parking for the beach nearby.
Please be careful on the rocks and seaweed, and please be careful of muggles when retreiving/replacing the cache.
