This is an easy guardrail geocache hidden near the Carrollton Covered Bridge.
The Carrollton Covered Bridge is one of only two covered bridges in Barbour County. This is the third oldest covered bridge in West Virginia and is the second longest in the state. It was built in 1856 and spans the Buckhannon River in Carrollton.
The bridge is 140 feet 9 inches long from the centers of the opposite endposts and is 16 feet wide. The Carrollton Covered Bridge is one of the three bridges in the state that displays the patented Burr Arch System. It was built by Emmett J. and Daniel O'Brien of Beverly at a cost of $4,819.26.
