Remembering Columbus

Small plastic container

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded in the United States in 1882, it was in honor of Christopher Columbus and describes itself as being dedicated to the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. There are more than 1.7 million members in 14,000 councils, with nearly 200 councils on college campuses. Membership is limited to “practical Catholic” men aged 18 or older. For boys 10-18 year old, there is the Columbian Squires which has over 5,000 circles internationally.(info from Wikipedia)

This park has 18 acres of natural area including woodlands and wetlands. It has an 8/10ths of a mile looped path, picnic tables and a gazebo. This park is named in the Knights of Columbus Fr. Frank Anksorus Counsil #6521 for their generous support of Joliet-Bolingbrook Special Recreation association.

You will have to walk through some weeds to get to the cache but it is not far from the path.

Updated 6/8/09: Should approach from path on east side of park to avoid having to wade through stream(river at times).
