Geocache Description:

Sited adjacent to a rural footpath, you are searching for a camouflaged screw top container - bean-can sized, big enough for a logbook + small swaps.

Avishays is a historical house on the outskirts of Chard, with a clocktower folly hidden in the woodlands at the GZ.

Avishays, earlier Aveneleseigh, emerged as a freehold in the 14th century. The house is of brick with stone dressing and appears to be 18th century, but some parts are 17th century.

Today the house is a private residence and well marked public footpaths crisscross the fields and woodlands surrounding it.

There is no public parking at or adjacent to Avishays and stealth may be required on the approach - the public footpath along the private driveway is not a stealthy route, use of an OS map is recommended (visit link)

You do not need to enter any fields, private land or cross any fences to retrieve this cache.

The suggested route to this cache is to start from the recommended parking, following a minor tarmac road before joining a footpath heading northwards.

These are rural footpaths which is used by horse riders & dog walkers and can be soft underfoot in places - in late / early seasons, wellies or stout footwear may be necessary. Care should be taken crossing the small bridges and cattle grids along some of these footpaths.

Please replace carefully to avoid being muggled.
