After solving the clues the cache is a short walk past a mystical place I used to go to when I was little. It was much nicer then when it was not so overgrown & tightly sandwiched between 2 buildings!
This cache is owned by outdoor learning and adventure charity, Outfit Moray. Visit www.outfitmoray.com for more information on our work locally with vulnerable or disadvantaged young people, to hire outdoor equipment such as canoes or bikes or to book an adventure fun day for up to 8 people!
This cache was donated by CullyCrew in 2018, and it's their wording in the descriptions.
The above co-ordinates are a suggested parking spot beside the tennis courts, opposite the cottage hospital/health centre. To get the actual cache co-ordinates you will need to search Aberlour for the answers to the following questions. If you follow the clues in order it should take you on a roughly circular tour of the village. Good luck & enjoy the walk!
A - at the site of the old Aberlour Orphanage you will find a memorial with the statue of a little girl reading a fairy tales book on top. How many sides does this memorial have?
B - St Margaret's Scottish Episcopal Church is situated at the Eastern entrance to Aberlour. How many spires does it have?
C - in the village square there is an old ornate drinking fountain which was officially opened on 22nd June 1897. How many pillars does it have?
D - there are 2 plaques on a stone by the old railway station (now a tearoom). What is the last digit of the year in which Sidney Littler opened the Alice Littler Park in memory of his late wife?
E - Aberlour Primary School is at the Western end of Mary Avenue. What is the last numeral of the year the school was built?
F - how many big letters form part of the bowling club gate (near suggested parking area)?
Now go back to the parking co-ordinates I gave at the beginning and walk uphill to the cache at:
N57 27.EFC
W003 13.BAD
NB - please do not drive up to the cache as this is a narrow road and parking to find the cache would cause a possible obstruction. It's not a very long walk from the suggested parking spot although fairly steep in places.
