One of Burnabys newest parks, a nice little oasis in a rapidly changing neighborhood. Great place for kids (of all ages) to play and relax. Cache is a small lock 'n lock container containing a log book, pen and room for small trade items.
Please exercise extreme stealth as it is an open area in full view of the other park users and several condo towers.
There's a Canadian Cacher pin for the FTF.
Jim Lorimer Park is a neighbourhood park and riparian conservation area located in the Brentwood Town Centre area. The features of the park include a play zone, seating nodes, open lawn space with trees and shrub beds, pathways and future boardwalk connection with interpretive walk.
Jim Lorimer was the sixth Minister of Municipal Affairs (1972-1975), and the first New Democrat to hold the position. His tenure was busy: changes were made to expand the funding limits of the Municipal Finance Authority; municipalities were offered a share of natural gas revenues; the BC Assessment Authority, Islands Trust and the Resort Municipality of Whistler were established; and major local amalgamations occurred in Nanaimo, Kamloops, Kelowna and Prince George.
Lorimer entered politics as a Burnaby city councillor in 1966. He later served as its MLA (1969-1975; 1979-1983). In addition to his responsibility at Municipal Affairs, Lorimer also served as the Minister of Commercial Transport.
In 2002, Lorimer received the Freedom of the Municipality of Burnaby distinction. The city also created Jim Lorimer Park in his honour.
