Geocache Description:

You will be looking for a camo pill bottle. You can drive very close to the cache.

Grinnell is America the way America is supposed to be.

Grinnell is one of the historic small towns that lies along I70. Grinnell was the second community to be established in Gove County. The famous Smoky Hill Trail goes across the southern part of the county. The Smoky Hill Trail carried gold seekers to the Colorado gold fields that were discovered in 1859. It also was a route for explorers, trappers, traders, and settlers. There were many Indian conflicts in the area. The well know Butterfield Overland Despatch also followed the Smoky Hill Trail and several stage stations were located in the county. Gove County is also the location of some of the most famous fossil finds in the world as this area was once an inland sea. There are many interesting geological formations in the county including Castle Rock and Monument Rocks. During World War II the southwest part of the county was used by military aircraft for gunnery practice.

The Township Hall is now the Heritage Center where the history of this area is being recorded and preserved. Check it out if it is open and check out the rest of the town while you are here. Grinnell has one of the best 9 hole grass green golf courses in the area and the green fees are very cheap.

There are several other caches in this area. Happy hunting.
