Feuerwachtürme sind in grossen geschlossenen Waldgebieten unverzichtbar, da von ihnen aus Waldbrände sehr schnell und genau im Entstehen entdeckt und gemeldet werden können.
Am 12.08.1975 in der Mittagszeit meldete der Feuerwchturm Falkenhof in Gartow ein Feuer bei Gorleben, das bis zum Abend eine Fläsche von 2000ha erreichte.
