Geocache Description:

The cache is a 35mm film pot placed at ground level.

Eric Ravilious (1903-1942) is one of the most popular artists of his period. He was a painter of watercolours and murals, a book illustrator in wood engraving and lithography, and a designer of transfer-ware pottery. From 1940 he was an Official War Artist, painting memorable pictures of ships, aircraft and coastal defences, until his tragic death in a flying accident in 1942.

UPDATED (30 Dec 2012 then 6 Mar 2013 then 11 April 2021):
The farmer has removed the fence that ran along the path so now, instead of having to find the location where Eric painted the picture, you need to find the cache by:
- establishing Eric's full date of birth (dd mm yyyy):
-- let AB CD 1903;
- establishing Eric's full date of death (dd mm yyyy):
-- let EF GH 1942;
- calculating N to equal:
-- [H-A-B][C]° [A+B][D+1].[H][F/2][D-A-B]
- calculating E to equal:
-- [C+E+G]° [F+H].[D-A-F][A][B/2]

Happy hunting.
