This cache has been archived.

onecrazycanadian: Hi saskcachewan,

I'm archiving this listing since it's been at least 2 weeks since we last contacted you and there has been no response. If you correct the problem indicated at some time in the near future we will take another look at it and may consider unarchiving the cache.

Thanks

Geocache Description:

This cache is a camoed-micro containing only a log sheet so bring a writing utensil. Parking on Dewdney Avenue is not a good idea. Hit a side street and go for a walk.

Happy Hunting!

This very spot contains the remains of over 400 head of cattle that were put down as a result of an alleged outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease discovered in the vicinity of Regina in 1952.
The details as were told to me by an individual in attendance were that on a cold winters’ night in February of 1952, city workers dug a large pit on what used to be a farm, a few metres north of Dewdney Avenue and a few metres west of Wascana Creek. The cattle were corralled towards the pit and shot by R.C.M.P. The pit was then covered over and the site remained a farm until the area was annexed by the city and landscaped as green space around the creek. This site is not unique, however. This scenario took place in other locations around the city as over 1000 head of cattle were destroyed to prevent the spread of the disease.

This is my first hide! I tried not to make this one very difficult. Check out the new R.C.M.P. Museum. Cool building.
