Geocache Description:

Original container was a miniature version of the Spookies' minivan made from an ammo can. That got muggled, replaced by tupperware, destroyed by squirrels and is now an ammo can again. Many thanks to those who have helped me keep my caches going while I've been away.

Much to Spooky 2's displeasure, Spooky 1 continues to treat their Honda Odyssey minivan like a 4wd and take it out on the Eglin Range where he shouldn't. Most of the time nothing happens, but while going after Bear Proof, something did.

It turns out minivans don't do so well in sand.

Night was falling and a Phone-A-Friend was the only way out for Spooky 1 and 6. Being the Great Communicator he is, Spooky 1 only had one local cacher's number in his cell phone. The call went out to Adkd48 to ask if she would call Coffeepotbend and see if she could come with Broncolina to pull the two errant Spookies out of the sand. As luck would have it, Coffee was free, and after a few dropped calls the Spookies' location was passed (Thank goodness for text messages!) and Coffee and hubby were on their way in Broncolina.

After a short wait, Coffee arrived in Broncolina and quickly pulled the Spookies back to solid ground. Since we had come all that way, we couldn't just leave without getting the smiley for Bear Proof, so we all hopped in Broncolina and drove down to make the grab.

This cache is hidden a little further down the road than Spooky 1 could drive his minivan. Hence, it is Spooky Proof.

Special kudos go out to Coffeepotbend for being the FTF on the full-sized minivan!

All the usual Eglin Range issues may apply depending on the times and seasons: thorns, snakes, ticks, hunters, bears, alligators, thorns, UXO's, military exercises, thorns, hurricanes. Oh yeah: Thorns.

This cache is hidden on the Eglin Range and you MUST have a Recreation pass to be on the range. The pass is good for one year (from Oct 1st through Sept 30th) and costs $12 as of 2009. You may get your pass from the Jackson Guard at 107 Hwy 85 North in Niceville. Their hours are: M-Th 0700-1630, F 0700-1800, Sat 0730-1230, Closed Sun and Federal Holidays. Phone #(850) 882-4165.

DO NOT HUNT THIS CACHE UNLESS YOU HAVE YOUR RANGE PASS WITH YOU!!
