This cache is located in what used to be a very active area. This location was once the home of a school before desegregation. Through the years many high school plays have been performed in the building that is left standing. (This building was once the gymnasium when the school was there.) The area is actually a little known city park established in 1976. It was named the Wilson Bicentennial Park. Not much of a park now, but the monument is still there. At the time of the dedication of the monument, it was rumored that a time capsule was placed beneath it. Many of the locals know this area best as the Chandler Farms Practice Facility. Chandler Farms was a legendary softball team from this area a few years back. They only practiced one time a year just before the District tournament. You guessed it, they usually won.
Not much is left, the softball field needs some fixin' up, the school is gone, no plays are performed here anymore either. However, there are a lot of memories left here for many people. Gizmo wanted to honor those memories with another cache on the grounds.
UPDATE: On July 21st 2009 we lost our precious Gizmo to complications from Diabetes. Our lives have not been the same since she has been gone. Please take the time to log your visits and travel bug activity both in and out. We want to keep this cache as up to date as possible for our Giz.
