Auf den Überresten eines alten heidnischen Gebäudes errichtet,
ist die Abtei von Santa Maria di Pulsano von starken Mauern
umgeben und befindet sich inmitten von grauen Felsen über einen
200 Meter tiefen Felsvorsprung. Die im romanischen Stil errichtete
Kirche, die teilweise in einer natürlichen Grotte entstanden ist die
als Apsis dient, verwahrte bis 1966 die mittelalterliche Ikone einer
Madonna mit Kind die jedoch gestohlen wurde.
Established on the remains of an old pagan building, the abbey is
surrounded by Santa Maria di Pulsano of strong walls and is in the
midst of grey rocks about a 200-metre-deep rock projection. The
church established in the Romanesque style which has partially
originated in a natural grotto as an apse serves, the medieval icon
of a Madonna with child kept till 1966 them, nevertheless was stolen.
