A cache in Mountainview Nature Park, with a 300 foot elevation change over about .6 miles.
Rockland County's Mountainview Nature Park is located very near one of the country's biggest shopping malls. Access to the park is on North Greenbush Road which is a quick right turn from the northbound side of Route 303. Take care when turning off 303 as it a very busy road. There may be parking closer to the cache but it may not be legal.
From the parking area follow the orange blazed trail. In a short while a white blazed trail starts to the right. Either trail will take you up the mountain. The orange trail is steeper while the white trail is slightly longer. When you reach the top follow the orange blazed trail to the blue blazed Bear Swamp trail. Trust the trails, there is no need to bushwhack.
Bear Swamp is an upland swamp which is a great spot for birding, mainly because there are a lot of insects here, so bring the bug spray. Also watch out for ticks. The hide should be obvious to cachers but the hint is a dead give away if you have problems.
Enjoy the wildlife and the hike and as always, trade even, trade up or just sign the log. Cache contains an unactivated FTF coin for the FTF of course.
