? Gangneung city is located between the sea and the mountain ridge. The East Sea is on one side and on the other side lies the eastern part of the great Baekdu mountain ridge which stretches from north to south like a spine of Korean peninsula. Most of its western part is composed of high mountains. Toward east, the land slopes steeply. The central part of the city is hilly plain and surrounding suburbs are mountainous. It shares the border with five other cities and counties.
? Thanks to wide pine forests, clean sandy beaches and crystal blue sea, many swimming beaches and resorts are developed along the east coast, the length of which is about 48.3 km.
? Various fish resources and seasonal fishery products are abundant.
? Well-preserved beautiful valleys and mountains make it a most favorite tourist attraction.
