The first 3 stages are 8 oz juice bottles with a stick
containing the next stage's coordinates. The final is a 7x9
lock-n-lock.
Caching veterans on the South Shore will recognize this cache to
be a redux version of geo50chevy's
Up Cove Creek Without A Paddle. There are some
similarities and some new features, resulting from changes in the
forest.
The former entrance to the forest, on Highland St to the south has
been closed. There's a new parking lot and trailhead from the
west, off Union St. The first three stages are where the old
ones used to be; except there is now a 4th & final stage, which
creates a trail loop that fits better with access from the west.
The new route also takes you the full length of Cove Brook
Trail, a nice winding path on hilly terrain following the
Brook.
If you've saved your waypoints from a previous visit, you might
be inclined to make a short cut by going directly to the 3rd stage.
But the 3rd stage is the furthest from the trailhead, so you
won't save that many steps. Besides, the 1st stage, at the
old barge pier known as Packets Landing, provides the best views of
the North River.
