A nice quick and easy multi cache. Coordinates given for clue and cache coordinates are both near public roads and can be done as a drive by.
This cache has been placed in memory of a childhood hero of mine. The man being John Henry Harding, known to the people of Newton Aycliffe, Co Durham, England as Harry Harding.
Harry Harding was a man I looked up to as a kid, and him being a toy shop owner gave him a certain status in a childs eye. A lovely man who took a great interest in his town and it's citizens. I can remember spending many an hour gazing at the shelves of the latest toys in his shop, the boxes of soldiers just waiting to be purchased and then flattened in a battle at home by the deadly marble strike. The models that had to be assembled, painted and then hung from the bedroom ceiling, hung with the dreaded tape that pulled the paint off, much to the annoyance of Mam.
Harry had great connections, even Santa Clause was on his mailing list. Anybody who knew Santa in person just had to be someone special, and before you all shout, I had proof that he knew the man, because Mam took me to the back of the shop every Xmas and I met the real Santa behind the glittery tassles hanging across the doorway of the broom cupboard. I always thought "how clever to hide Santa in a cupboard" then only us kids knew he was there. Maybe Harry did this to prevent a stampeed on his shop.
He sadly passed away Feb 9th 2005, and was buried back in his childhood village of Moorsholme. A childhood he put down on paper in his book "Where the bee sucked" published in 1999 it was a book of 1930's childhood on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors.
The multi cache starts at the given coordinates. These take the cacher to the headstone at Harrys grave. Here I would like you to firstly spare a thought for a lovely man, and a great mate of Santa.
Then using a simple letter replacement system ( A=1 B=2 C=3 etc) read Harrys headstone to solve the following simple puzzle to complete the cache coordinates.
N54 3@.0?$ W000 ?%. %++
@= 27th letter encripted ?= 22nd letter encripted $= 6th letter encripted %= 16th letter encripted += 8th letter encripted.
Please respect the areas of the locations. Keep kids safe, happy and under control, and simply enjoy your caching.
