Geocache Description:

Levens Left Bank 3, Kent Meander, One in a series of five caches along Levens Park Avenue

As a young Mancunian boy, I can remember watching an appeal on TV to stop the ministry of transport from ploughing a “motorway” through the ancient avenue of trees leading down to Levens Hall in 1968/9 and the local MP Michael Jopling asking for a diversion. Forty years later this series celebrates the reprieve of this avenue of oaks. Roadside Parking is available near either SW or NE end of the avenue. Refreshments available most days at the cafe or the bakery from Levens Hall. This route can be linked into a round by also visiting GCT692White Faun on the other bank and your choice of excellent Martlakes caches to include GCXP75 The Safie Series - 6 Don't let it slam! #3 Kent Meander In the park there are at least 3 “thrones” built from water worn limestone. This one has a glorious view SW over the river, twisting its way down to the sea. The remnants of an Oxbow can be made out on the valley bottom and although this is the busy end of the park it is a superb viewpoint
