Geocache Description:


Boating and Water sports were very popular in the early days on Lake Bonney. Hec Thompson built this boat - The Erie - in 1937 at Mayurra. It was completed in 1940 and was powered by a modified Model T Ford engine. A canopy was added in 1947. It was storm damaged in the mid 1950's and moved to this spot awaiting repairs. Still waiting!!

The cache is a screw top plastic container with the usual trinkets. This is a good spot to view the lake from. Another cache nearby makes it a good afternoon drive. If in 2wd car caution should be taken.
