CASA DE CULTURA
La Casa de la Cultura de Pilar de la Horadada alberga la biblioteca municipal, oficina de información y turismo, un salón de actos, un museo etnológico y arqueológico, así como una sala de exposiciones temporales. Fue construida poco tiempo después de que el pueblo consiguiera segregarse de Orihuela (1986). La idea original era que fuera un mercado de abastos, pero después de ser construida los comerciantes del pueblo no quisieron trasladar a este edificio sus negocios. Así, poco tiempo después fue remodelada para convertirse en la Casa de Cultura. Actualmente se está construyendo una nueva Casa de Cultura en el municipio. Se puede ver desde la N-332 y tiene forma de paloma. Lleva varios años en construcción y se han encontrado muchos problemas para ejecutarla.
El museo etnológico es el más interesante para mí. Se pueden ver los aperos tradicionales de la zona, algunos muebles y los trajes típicos del pueblo. El traje típico de la mujer lo encontraron hace unos 15 años y a partir de ese momento en las fiestas del pueblo las mujeres utilizan el vestido tradicional pilareño y no el de alicantina, como hasta entonces. En el museo también se puede ver el despacho de D. Gratiniano Baches, que fue la primera persona en empezar los estudios arqueológicos en Pilar de la Horadada a principios del siglo XX.

The Pilar de la Horadada Cultural Center houses the municipal library, the tourist and information office, an assembly hall, an ethnological and archaeological museum, as well as a temporary exhibition hall. It was built soon after the town succeeded in segregating from Orihuela (1986). The original idea was to build a wholesale food market, but after being built, the town shopkeepers refused to move their shops there. Then, it was redesign to house the Cultural Center. Nowadays a new Cultural Center is being built in the town. It can be seen from the N-332 and it has the shape of a dove.
The ethnological museum is the most interesting for me. You can see, among other things, traditional farming implements, some furniture and the traditional town’s costume. The woman traditional costume was found 15 years ago, and from that moment, the Pilar de la Horadada’s women use that one and not the Alicante’s traditional costume in the town festival. In the museum you can also visit Mr. Gratiniano Baches’ office, who was the first person to start archaeological studies in the town in the beginning of the XX century.
