This cache recognises the ingenuity of our indigenous bretheren, in the midst of what appears to us recent arrivals, to be a dry and inhospitable landscape.
I first came across this site when on a walk in the area during summer. The forest was in its customary parched, drought-stricken state with not a puddle in sight. Until, that is, we came upon this intriguing piece of early hydro-technology.
The search brings you to an aboriginal well, constructed by the Jaara Jaara people and situated at the base of a small rock slab. (The Bull Gully Rock Well.) Locals, who have known of the well for many years, say they have never known it to dry out. Such items are not uncommon in granite country but I was fascinated to see one in the sandstone. Apparently, there are several others known in the district.
This location can be reached by conventional vehicle or by strolling across from my other cache nearby, Euchy Gold (GC1TQMZ). It is a pleasant 2km return walk, taking about 45 minutes.
The cache is a 200ml clip-lock container with a logbook. No room for swaps but you might fit a small trackable in it.
The cache also contains directions to a FTF prize, which is hidden nearby, as it won't fit in the container.
Better bring a writing implement at the moment, until I can get up there to replace the one that's gone missing.
