Geocache Description:

The Brown Teddies adopted this cache in July 2019 to keep it going in memory of its original CO Harry Ashcroft.

Another Grange cache, but for the serious cacher this time.

A camouflaged micro with just a log book. Take your own pen/pencil.

Thick woodland and vertical crags may upset your GPS, but not at the cache itself. Please replace with care.

Yewbarrow towers over the town of Grange over Sands and was a popular excursion for the more athletic promenaders in Edwardian times. Now owned by South Lakeland District Council it has been left to become wild although it is criss-crossed with the remains of the original Edwardian terraced pathways and many new paths created by modern day dog walkers (hence the maze bit in the title).

There are many approaches, the most strenuous but easiest to navigate start from Hampsfell Road but shorter and more confusing routes, winding through the crags can be accessed from higher up in the town. Wherever you park please be considerate. Please note that there is a cliff drop off within a metre of the cache. Please keep children and dogs under close control. I hope that you enjoy the view...you can see [Harry's] house from here! Why not combine this cache hunt with nearby 'Boulder Problem' cache....but please don't try the direct route.
