Welcome to Laurinburg, NC No. 1 Traditional Cache
NCDaywalker: Rode by this one yesterday and noted that a logging company didn't sign log when they visited, they just cut down the tree, not sure what value a hollow dogwood tree has to pulpwood cutting but the tree has been cut down. Great run while it lasted, thanks to the many cachers who stopped by to check the cache out. NCD

Welcome to Laurinburg, NC No. 1
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache contains a small camo plastic screw lid container with log, and some SWAG. It is located as the name implies in the vicinity of a Welcome to Laurinburg, NC sign. Yet as you know there are exceptions to every rule. With that said, future installments may also be located in places of historical significance or exhibiting some of Scotland County's local flavor. The terrain and difficulty will be kept if at all possible to a level 2 or less.
When I got started geocaching a few months ago, I noticed that my
county and city was woefully behind the times in caches. This has been partially relieved by the efforts of Geo13 and beenthere309; to which I doff the Scottish Tam to each. I notice that often these cachers use a theme for their caches. With much thought and debating on a proper solution to this matter, also noticing several caches in other towns had titles of Welcome to ..., I decide my first and new series would be Welcome to Laurinburg, NC. From time to time, I will be placing caches with this theme in mind. As noted above, these caches may be near these signs or in other places to highlight my county. So if you will, come on to Laurinburg and Scotland County and cache in.
Now a word about this cache, It is not beside the sign but it is close. I'd say within 25 ft. The co-ords are for the cache not the sign. All you have to do is to pull the string and it will come to you. Use the hint only if needed, it's a bit of a spoiler
DISCLAIMER: Remember to use caution and safety any time you are out caching. This area of North Carolina has many critters, creatures and plants that are just not as hospitable as other denizens in this fair county. Poison ivy/oak, ticks, mosquitoes, deer flies, fire ants, briars, and snakes are common. In the words of the late Cajun Cook Justin Wilson, "I am a safety engineer by trade; I wear a belt and suspenders." So be safe.
