Kvasshovden er eit av fleire høge fjell som omkransar Ulvik i
Hardanger. Herifrå har du flott utsyn over Ulvik, fjella rundt og
ut mot Hardangerfjorden.
Ulvik Idrottslag skipa for fyrste gong motbakkeløpet
”Kvasshovden Opp” i 2008, med stor suksess og 367 startande. Turen
startar ved Ulvik kyrkje nede ved fjorden. Gå så vestover langs Rv
572 og ta av til høgre ved Ulvik Fjordpensjonat. Heretter er den
7,5 km lange løypa merka med gode skilt heilt til toppen på 1030
moh, og det skal difor vera lett å finna fram heile sommaren. Løypa
går gjennom fleire gardstun, frodig kulturlandskap og skog, før ein
tek til på dei siste bratte bakkane opp til toppen i
høgfjellsterreng. Undervegs passerer ein stølane Litlastøl og
Gunnarsete. Vær forsiktig på toppunktet, då det er stupbratt ned på
framsida av varden!
Dei aller beste brukar mindre enn ein time opp på toppen, men i
vanleg turtempo i trimklassen bør ein rekna ca 2,5 – 3 timar opp,
alt etter ambisjonar og kondisjonsnivå. Om du ynskjer å delta i

Om du ikkje ynskjer å ta turen med startnummer på bringa, eller
ynskjer ei kortare utgåve, kan du køyre til Børsheim, Bergo eller
Aurdal og gå derifrå. Turen frå Bergo og Aurdal er beskriven i

Kvasshovden is one of several high mountains surrounding the
village of Ulvik in Hardanger. From the summit you get a great view
over Ulvik, the neighbouring mountains and the Hardangerfjord.
Ulvik Idrottslag organised the hillrun “Kvasshovden Opp” for the
first time in 2008. There were 367 participants and it was a great
success. The trip starts from Ulvik church by the fjord. From there
you walk along Rv 572 and turn right at Ulvik Fjordpensjonat. The
subsequent 7.5 km route is signposted all the way to the top (1030
meters above sea level) and should be easy to find all summer. The
walk takes you through several farms, lush landscape and forest and
culminates with a steep hill up to the top of the mountainous
terrain. Along the way you also pass the summer pastures Litlastøl
and Gunnarsete. Be careful at the top though, it’s very steep in
front of the cairn!
The best competitors in the race take less than one hour to
reach the summit, however about 2,5 – 3 hours is a more normal
time. It all depends on your ambitions and how fit you are! If you

short distance west of the top point, so it can easily be found

If you don’t want to join the race, or prefer a shorter route,
you can drive to Børsheim, Bergo or Aurdal and start the trip from
there.
