Geocache Description:

Spearfish Falls is located in Spearfish Canyon off Hwy 14A. The trailhead to the falls is located to the left of Latchstring Inn Restaurant. The wildlife trail which is a 3/4 mile loop, descends 100 feet to Spearfish Falls and spanning a 1,200 foot gorge. UPDATE: unknown to me the loop is not a loop. One can not walk across the metal bridge. The path starts behind Latchstring Inn to the left of it.

The trail provides convenient access to some of the lushest vegetation, a wide variety of wildlife, panoramic views of the high walls and one of the scenic water displays in the canyon. The cache is hidden before you get to the falls. Please make sure you use stealth when finding the cache. Then make sure that you follow the trail and see the falls. One can continue on the loop or return back the way one came. Spearfish Falls is the spring-fed water of Little Spearfish Creek which is passed over Roughlock Falls a mile west of here. The Little Spearfish Creek joins the waters of Spearfish Creek here.
