Many people hike Flattop Mt on summer solstice, usually June 21st, to experience the longest day of the year. On summer solstice Anchorage has officially almost 20 hours of daylight and functionally 24 hrs, because it really doesn't get dark. http://geography.about.com/od/physicalgeography/a/summersolstice.htm I was up here a few days before summer solstice, frustrated by 2 DNF's and decided there needed to be one more cache in this area.
