Beaver Chew Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-allenite-: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future (within 60 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Located just off the North Country Trail, less than a mile from Tahqua Trail Road. You're close when you start to see water.

Over 25 miles of the North Country Trail winds through Tahquamenon Falls State Park, beginning north at County Road 500 all the way down to Tahqua Trail. It traverses through wetlands, heads up the sandy ridges and gives awesome views you can only get by hiking the trail. From this cache it is 8 miles to the Lower Falls, so if you plan on continuing make sure you have water and adequate footwear.

The beaver chews located around this cache are the result of many generations that have lived in this wetland. Beaver won't build a dam if the water is deep enough, and instead will chew down smaller trees for food. They store food in the deepest part of the pond for consumption during the winter months.
