A series of caches set in Shewalton Woods, a wildlife reserve at the south end of Irvine. This reserve is owned and managed The Scottish Wildlife Trust.
A good sized car park is available. Check out the Related Web Page for driving directions.
There are good paths throughout and the full circular walk should take around two hours on foot. National Cycle Route 7 runs through part of the reserve.
There is plenty of wildlife watching opportunities on this reserve. Many wildflowers and two ponds attract many different types of wildlife including birds, butterflies, dragonflies, deer, adders and much more.
This cache is situated near the railway line, just along from the two wooden bridges, this area is rich in bird life. Take a seat near the mixed woodland and listen to the birdsong.
