W.A.L.K. in the Wild Traditional Geocache

The cache is located just a few minutes off I-90 at Irene Rhinehart Riverfront Park. The nature trails are dirt and gravel and are suitable for walking, biking, baby joggers, and cross country skiis in winter, but not wheelchair accessible. It is accessible year-round, but sometimes closed for flooding in spring.
From Canyon Rd., go west (by the Subway) onto Umptanum Rd for 1 mile. You will see Irene Rhinehart on your right just before crossing the Yakima river. You can park here in the lot and the geocache is about a 1/4 mile walk in.
Irene Rhinehart Riverfront Park is 117 acres of hiking/biking trails, boat landing, lake swimming, picnic, barbecue, sand volleyball, and grass areas. Dogs are welcome on leash accept for the grassy area near the swimming lake. People's Pond, as the locals refer to it, can be accessed by taking the small paved road near the entrance of the park. It's a great area for the kids to swim and there is a separate "pond" further back for the pooches. The trails run all along the Yakima River and out around the swimming lakes. This is a favorite place for bird watching. We have spotted deer, rabbits, owl, various birds and insects, and even our state bird the gold finch. During the late spring you can enjoy the fragrance of the wild roses.
The cache is a large ammo box. The original contents are:
