South Wales Mountain Cache Challenge 29 is number twenty nine in a series of thirty caches that have been placed in the South Wales mountains.
The South Wales Mountain Cache Challenge has thirty caches placed in various parts of the upland areas of the Principality. A mountain is defined as being at least 2000 feet high, but here in Wales, we like to call some of higher hills mountains as well, and so several of the caches have been placed in areas that I perceive to be beautiful, but do not fall within the definition of a mountain!
Please also understand that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and is an entirely subjective view!
Many of the caches have been placed in the mountains within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Cache number 29 has been placed in an unusual location for this series. It provides views over two valleys, the famous Taff, and the Dare. I always approach this cache from the north when on a circular 20 mile walk from Pontypridd, and having descended to this location, I always felt that a cache should be placed here! You will have a direct view of the 'Dragon's Tooth' ahead of you on the ridge. the walk either into or from Abercynon to the cache location is very pleasurable.
If you want a GPX track of the route that I walk so that you avoid the cache and dash mentality, then please contact me and I will be happy to supply a track.
Do not forget to look for a clue within the cache, as to find number thirty in the series, you will need 17 clues that are hidden in the first 29 caches in the series.
