Geocache Description:

1km round trip multi-cache walk or drive by, exploring the industrial past of Upper Colne Valley.

Cache is at
N 53 36.(f+d) (c-e+a) (g-h+f)
W 001 57.(a) (i) (b)

Coordinates are for parking & Stage 1
There are 2 stages - the first is to find a blue plaque & the second is to count old stone posts.

STAGE 1 - Hey Green Generator blue plaque
N 53.36 362 W 001.57 128
The plaque celebrates the water powered generator installed at Hey Green House (now Hotel) to provide the first electricity to light a house in the Colne Valley.

Clue 1: What year is on the plaque?
Answer = abcd

Head west along the road then at the Hey Green Hotel turn left up a rough private road.
Behind the fencing on either side, you'll see the first stone posts. Keep on up the private road until it does a 90 degree left turn at N 53.36 306 W 001.57 347.

They were simply an expensive decoration to the estate of the new owner of the now Hey Green Hotel at the top of the hill. The original road was cobbled. Trees were planted between the parallel lines of stone posts and wooden diamond cross-section rails on either side of the cobbles forming an attractive, ornamental and prestigious route up to the house. Perhaps the owners wanted to say "We have arrived; this is us."
(Thanks to Encuentro for this information)

STAGE 2 - Private road corner
N 53.36 306 W 001.57 347.
Start counting the stone posts on the upper (right) side of the road. In total there are 38.

Answer (e.g. 2 for 2nd post) = e
Clue 3: Which broken stone post is only 0.5m high?
