Geocache Description:

An island cache on Lake Micmac in Dartmouth, placed to mark National Canoe Day. In the spirit of the day, you will have to paddle to it...like we needed another reason to get out paddling! This is gointg to be first of many more of these caches! This one is a regular ammo box with a copy of Bill Mason: Wilderness Artist as FTF prize.

This cache is placed in honour of the second annual celebration of National Canoe Day, which will be placed for the celebration on June 20, 2009. The thought was to place a new cache each year in honour of our canoes being the wonders that they are! The day was begun by the National Canoe Museum last year to draw attention and heartfelt reverance for that great Canadian icon that is the Canoe! Celebrations are held in many different locations across the country and involve many other like-minded organizations who all pitch in and volunteer their time and happy energy to make the day a lot of fun. The Nova Scotia celebrations are being held at Grahams Grove on Lake Banook in Dartmouth. So come on out, have some fun, take in a canoe history lesson, enjoy the displays set up, try out a boat and grab some caches. (This isn't the only one on Lake's Banook and Micmac, just sayin').....oh, and there's cake too!! So pack up your canoes, kayaks and safety gear and come on down to see us.
