This cache is located at the end of Lone Pine Road within Tahquamenon Falls State Park. Lone Pine Rd. is an unmarked 2-track that dead ends at Whitefish Bay. There is enough room at the end of the road to turn around, but that's about it.
Once you reach the bay, look to the left (north) and you will see Emerson Island. A sawmill once occupied the island, and the dock pilings are still visible.
You can often see animal tracks in the sand, including deer, river otter and moose. Moose are not common, but are occasionally seen in this area near M-123. Their preferred habitat is low-growing marshland for browsing, with a water source nearby.
