Deputy Timothy D. Graham
End of watch - August 10, 2005
On August 10, 2005, at approximately 7:52 p.m., Deputy Graham responded to a suspicious person call at the Circle K located at Ajo Highway and Kinney Road. The suspicious person was identified as AKS; Deputy Graham had had previous contact with AKS earlier that same day.
When Deputy Graham arrived, AKS was combative and ran across Ajo Highway. Deputy Graham pursued the suspect and caught up with him on the median. A physical fight ensued as Deputy Graham attempted to detain AKS for his own safety. At this point, a passerby, identified as Mr. Dawud Isa Abusida, observed the struggle and stopped to assist the deputy. During the altercation, Deputy Graham, Mr. Abusida, and the suspect fell into a westbound lane on Ajo Highway; all three were struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle.
Deputy Timothy Graham, age 30, was survived by his wife Sherry, two step-sons Patrick and Jackson, his mother Judy, and his grandmother Betty.
Text from the Pima County Regional Law Enforcement Memorial Service program. I've removed the name of the suspect so as to not give any recognition whatsoever.
