Remember when you were a small child and the local park,
playground, reserve or special place seemed so exciting yet so far
away? You’d wake your parents up early on a weekend to drag them
down here so you could run, swing, slide and occasionally fall over
and cry. Later, you’d ride your bike or play cricket or kick a
footy or practise tennis. In your minds eye a place of fun and
magic that will seem so much smaller and drab if you revisit it
with adult eyes.
These small green gems are an oasis, especially in a surburban
setting. Often known and used by only the locals they can be so
important as you grow up. Each one is special to someone.
This is Kate’s Park. My daughter loves it like I loved the parks of
my childhood, as only kids can.
Enjoy your visit. Stay and take a short stroll, you may even spot
us at the playground. I hope it reminds you of your childhood and,
for a moment, you can remember just a glimpse of yourself as a
young child.
If it does, please write about it when you log the cache.
This reserve contains a playground, BBQ, the local Community
House and, at the right time of day, plenty of happy kids. Also,
it’s a great place to see birdlife. I see parrots every time I’m
here.
The Cache
Small, camouflaged and hidden above ground level.
I just managed to squeeze a pencil stub in but BYO pen to be on the
safe side. Too small for swaps.
