This is a lovely walk along the River Tweed, where you can regularly see an abundance of wildlife.
Walking this stretch of the river recently we spotted a great variety of wildlife, so decided to return and place a few caches to encourage others to get out and enjoy the wildlife. Our wildlife list for the two visits include a stoat, 2 ospreys, a kingfisher, a pair of redstarts, a sedge warbler, a lost whooper swan, reed buntings and many more. This cache is placed across the river from a very active sand martin colony - but you will need to be quick as they will soon all be fledged. There were also house martins, swifts and swallows flying around the area.
This is a series of four caches set along a walk of about 5 miles, I do prefer a circular walk but as this walk is interesting in either direction and has such a the variety of wildlife it makes up for new views, you can vary it by walking out along the railway and back by the river bank, and there is a short cut back to the parking space through the trees. Enjoy and happy spotting. This is a very busy section of the path and is overlooked from all directions so please be stealthy and cover carefully. The Innerleithen 3 Wheeler is also nearby.
