The Boy Scouts of America Gulf Coast Council Spanish Trail Scout Reservation aka Camp Euchee is only a few short miles east on Hwy 90 from this oh-so popular purveyor of gas, grub, and gear. Many scouters have been to this location to restock before and after roughing it in the woods of Euchee, and thus I believe this to be the best location for warning those participants young and old, new and veteran, to recall the tale of the Monster that roams these lands!!
The Tale of the One-Eyed Euchee is a campfire folkstory so ancient that generations of scouts and scouters have been reciting it through the years. No one knows for sure if it is true, but those lost to the woods forever surely could tell us all!!
The tale tells of a Seminole Indian brave who wandered this land. The brave came upon a pool of water from which he drank and never again grew old. He lived through many adventures and experienced many things. He had an epic duel with a ferocious and powerful bear which blinded him in one eye, but could not kill him. And, to this day, the brave is still known to walk these woods. So be careful while camping, geocaching, or just passing through, because the One-Eyed Euchee may be watching YOU!!
