Geocache Description:

This cache is located at the cemetery of Hope Lutheran Church in Monroe Township, Henry County.

On April 26, 1879 Rev. George Hueler, the reverend of St. Stephen's in Hamler, started a church for those in his flock who had formerly met in private homes and at Rohr's School. This new church was called Hoffnung Kirche, or Hope Church.
In 1883, Henry Kolbe donated the land that the cemetery is on, and in 1901 the first sermon was delivered from the new church building. Services were held in German until Rev. GJ Ide took over in the early part of the 20th Century.
You'll be looking for a camo'd matchstick container. Bring your pen or pencil.

The "SQ" in the cache name above signifies Spirit Quest, a project by the Northwest Ohio Geocachers to distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries and memorial gardens. This cache is part of that series created by NWOGEO members to highlight cemeteries or memorial gardens in the area. Please be respectful of the area, and observe their rules and posted hours which are typically sunrise to sunset.
