Geocache Description:

Another cache at an old Fire lookout tower location.

Lake Butte Lookout

Elev. 6200 feet +/-

This should be an easy find for most everyone.

The last mile of road is kinda rough so I would suggest a higher clearance ride if you plan on driving in real close.

Lake Butte Fire Lookout Tower

R.I.P. 1938-1963

Established with a 33' pole L-4 tower in 1938, a 30' treated timber R-6 flat tower was constructed in 1963. In the 1970's, it was moved to Antelope Mtn. L.O..

I went up the 18 road past Magone Lake and up the hill on the 279 road. You can come in from several different ways and leave the area a different way.

The cache container is an old ammo can fairly well hidden but the numbers should be tight.
