What a story for one hide...
Its an easy grab, for the most part just park and grab. Not a whole lot of cars on this part of midway.
I found a perfect hole for it!
The Story:
Me and Shopes set out on a powetrail cache run in the country. Me on a bike, Shopes on a longboard. The caches start on Sikes road and from my house to the first cache is 7 miles. To the last cache is 2 more miles. Round trip, 18 miles. We started at 8:42PM and we thought we'd be done by 12:00 or 1:00.
We took a few water breaks on 113 and midway and at around 10:00pm, we arrived at Sikes road. We thought we were never going to reach it, but then there was the sign. We were overjoyed but when we looked to the south, where we needed to go, it was dirt. Never a good place to go on a longboard. Why would they make a road that turns dirt to the south and paved to the north? We will never know...
By now it was past 10:30 after making the decision to try and walk the power trail... now way! We were about to turn back when i decided to try and do one loop around the field to the SE and see if it wasn't dirt later on. When we realized it was going to add another 3 or 4 miles to the trip, we decided to head back and get some caches in town.
We didn't want the trip out in the country to be a total waste of time so we planted this cache. After we hid it we started to head back.
We got to Robbin road when a car pulled up behind us. That's not exactly the first thing you want to see, pitch black, deep in the country at 11:00pm. Well sure enough, it was a county sheriff.
Turns out we were past curfew so he told us to get home as fast as we could. That was the end of it and he drove off.
Well five minutes went by when two cars pulled up in front of us this time, so we stopped again. Again, county sheriffs... REALLY long story short, we ended up in the back of one of their cars with our equipment, crammed in the back of the other. These guys were nice enough to give us a ride back into town and get us home, although we didnt get a single cache out of 11 we were going for, we planted one and got a fantastic story out of it.
