Den 1 juni 1676 slogs den svenska flottan ut av danskarna i ett sjöslag vid Öland och nu ville danskarna även ta igen de landskap, Skåne, Halland och Blekinge, som förlorades vid freden i Roskilde 1658. Den 29 juni 1676 landsteg den danska hären, 14 000 man stark vid Rå och de intog Helsingborg och senare även Landskrona därmed var vägen öppen mot Kristianstad. Förmyndarregeringen hade tydligen slarvat med fästningarnas underhåll i Skåne. Nu vädrade skåningarna och då främst människorna i Göingebygden morgonluft. Det danska blixtkriget gav befolkningen råg i ryggen och skogarnas folk slöt sig samman. Det bildades små enheter av såväl rövarband som frikårer, som kom danskarna till hjälp.

Så ville danskerne tilbageerobre Skåne, Halland og Blekinge. Danskerne gik i Land ved Rå og indtog Helsingborg og Landskrona. Skåningerne vejrede nu morgenluft, skovfolkene slog sig sammen, og grupper af røvere og fribyttere kom danskerne til hjælp.

The Danes’ attacks and the people of Göinge take revenge – On June 1 in 1676, the Swedish navy was defeated by the Danes at a battle at sea near the island of Öland. The Danes wanted to recapture the provinces of Skåne, Halland and Blekinge that were lost because of the Peace Treaty of Roskilde in 1658. The Danish army landed in Skåne in June 1676 and occupied three towns, Helsingborg and later even Landskrona and by doing so, there were no obstacles towards Kristianstad. The people of Skåne, especially those living in Göinge, began to see their chances. The Danish war gave the people courage and the people of the forests co-operated. Small units of bands of robbers as well as independent groups recruited by the Danes were created and helped the Danes.
