Geocache Description:

The Abaco Island Cache!

Welcome to the Great Island of Guana Kay!! This Island has always been a favorite of mine and I thought that it should have at least 1 cache on it! Now the name states that it is the first cache on Guana, but this is not compleatly true. In the past there was a cache located at a local bar/restraunt called Nippers. But due to it being archived long ago, I treat this as the first due to it being the only one on the Island now. The actual cache itself is a regular/large Rubbermaid container that originally held just a log book, some Bahamian coins, and Geo-Coin.The 3 star terrain level is due to the necessary use of a boat to reach the island. The cache is being watched over by the owner of the Nippers bar close by. So if you get a chance,(and you have to go to Nippers at least once!) then stop by and say hi. There is a local pig roast held every Sunday at the bar and all the islanders go and chill out with some some good local grub and an ice cold Nipper (the House drink). When ever our family goes to this island, we rent out a small house for a week and spend our time swimming, snorkeling, Tuna fishing, and spear fishing. Guana has some of the best coral reefs that you could ever see without traveling to Australia. And some of these reefs are within swimming distance from the beach! This cache was my first ever cache placement and it really seems to be doing well. So whether you have a Bloody Mary at Orchid Bay, a frozen Nipper at Nippers, or you just want to grab this cache, Don't forget to have fun along the way. And watch out for Sharks and Hurricanes!!! =)

Small note on cache maintenance: There is a local cache guardian. Name and contact info on file with geocaching.com.
