Welcome to Cape Breton Highlands National Park!

 This cache is placed on the Benjie's Lake trail - 3 km (return).

Parking is on the OPPOSITE side of the road, take care when crossing the highway. Trail is relatively good, some roots and stones, and a nice boardwalk in some places.
 
You are looking for a small lexan container containing a log book and pencil.
  
 

Please pay appropriate park entry fees and collect your Cacheport at the Ingonish or Chéticamp Visitor Centre.  Stay on trails.

As per the Parks Canada geocaching policy: Trade items are not permitted in caches, this includes Travel Bugs.

Cette cache est située sur le sentier Lac Benjie's - 3 km (aller-retour).

Le stationnement est sur le côté opposé de la route, soyez prudent. Le sentier est relativement bon, quelques racines et pierres, et un joli trottoir à certains endroits.
           
Vous cherchez un contenant de lexan, carnet et crayon. 
 

N’oubliez pas de payer les droits d’entrée du parc aussi le cacheport au centre d’accueil de Chéticamp ou à celui d’Ingonish. Suivez les sentiers.

Conformément aux lignes directrices sur la géocachette de Parcs Canada, les objets d’échange (y compris les « Travel Bugs ») sont interdits dans les caches.

In 2008 and 2009, scientists at Cape Breton Highlands National Park released American Marten into the park to increase their numbers.

In total 75 marten, an endangered species in the province of Nova Scotia and a native of the park, were released.

Marten prefer old growth forest, where they have lots of room to hide beneath dead trees to prey on small mammals such as squirrels & mice.

The Canada Lynx is also an endangered species in Nova Scotia. The Cape Breton Highlands are the last stronghold of these cats in the whole province.		 En 2008 et 2009, des scientifiques ont relâché des martres d’Amérique dans le parc national des Hautes-Terres-du-Cap-Breton pour en augmenter la population.

En tout 75 martres d’Amérique, espèce en voie de disparition en Nouvelle-Écosse et espèce indigène du parc, ont été relâchées.

La martre préfère les forêts anciennes où, les cachettes étant nombreuses sous les arbres morts, elle peut chasser les petits mammifères comme les écureuils et les souris.

Le lynx du Canada qui est aussi une espèce en voie de disparition en Nouvelle-Écosse. Les hautes-terres du Cap-Breton sont le dernier bastion de ces félins dans la province.
