Geocache Description:

First of all, this is a Day time Cache only! You will Not be able to complete it in the dark as you will not be able to find the info required to get to GZ. This cache hide is in the You Yangs Regioal Park and has a time that the Gates are open and closed. Open times are at 8am and close at 4.30pm, 7 days a week. Also it will be too dangerous to try at night.

As 2009 marks the 400th Anniversary of Galileo and his Telescope. It also marks the 40th Anniversary of man on the moon. I am using a device to view with this cache. A tool that has for centuries helped man unlock the secrets of our Universe.

The closest parking in the You Yangs is at S 37° 56.236 E 144° 26.357 It is about a 500m hike to WP1. You need to be wary that there a lot of Wallaby tracks in the area and can all look very simular when walking back. The terrain is a little up and down and with the tracks I have put it as 4 on the terrain as you can get a little disorientated there. There is alot of Boneseed in the area and you can see across the valleys with no trouble. Now to the Cache.

At Wp1 you will find a hidden brass disk with numbers acid etched into it. Behind the rock face about 1.5m to the North, you will find the device needed to Veiw "Galileo's Vision". Please gain access to the door from the ground at the back of the rock, move the tree logs and not the rocks on top. ( Please treat this divice with care) Place the device into the hole provided. (Take the lens cap off) Now to gain the Sth Co-ords to GZ. You do not need to go there.

Turn the device to 40 degrees at the base, and about 185 angle on the device itself. You will need to adjust to set to your own vision. This will be WP1a. You will need a steady hand. You are looking for a Beige Aliminium plaque with the last three digits to the Sth Co-ords. Now turn the base marker to 225 degrees and the top marker on the device to about 192 angle. Here you will see another Beige Aluminium plaque with the last three digits to GZ.

This will be WP1b. GZ= S37°56.WP1a E144°26.WP1b At GZ you will need to go in to find. A torch will come in handy here to find the Cache container. You are looking for a painted tin container about 500ml. Inside is Log Book, pen, and small swaps to go with the theme. Please replace everything so that they are out of view and for the next to enjoy.

Thanks to Shane.Thompson, WB Holden, and my son for their help with the box that hides the device. Also to a couple of friends who helped with some other things to do with this Cache.
