Geocache Description:

The cache is located on the north side of Allegany State Park along
equestrian trail #18. Park at the staging area in Longto Hollow. N42*05.022, W078* 47.896. Do not try to drive across the little bridge.

Visitors to Allegany State Park occasionally report seeing a bobcat. Bobcats are hard to find, because they are nocturnal and very secretive. Some of the park staff were skeptical of the reports, but the reports were proved true in the winter of 2005. Park Police officers on patrol found a road-killed bobcat thawing out of a snowbank. The officers brought the bobcat back to headquartes, and recreation staff made arrangements with a taxidermist to make a mount for the nature museum. Stop by the museum at Red House Administration Building for a visit with "Bob." Bob lived in Longto Hollow in a comfy den. Like all cats he was fond of toys, Bob left his toys behind, of course, and you might be able to find them if you look in the right spot. Bob wouldn't mind if you traded toys with him. Cats get bored with old toys, after all. The cache is a 50-caliber ammo can. It contains a logbook and pen and several kitty toys to trade. Original contents include several mini-mice, jingle balls, flea combs, and AAbatteries. Cache placed with the permission of Allegany State Park,

Permit no. ALL201.
