Geocache Description:

A quick stop along U.S. Highway 95. If you're caching in late July or Aug, park well off the road or you could be run over by a rampant grain truck.

U.S. Highway 95 used to run parallel to the railroad tracks on this stretch of the highway. Arriving in Grangeville in December of 1908, the Culdesac-Grangeville extension of the Northern Pacific line was 55 miles long and included 46 bridges and trestles, four smaller bridges or crossings and 13 tunnels.

The Camas Prairie Railroad closed the Culdesac-to-Grangeville extension in 2000 and most of the track was removed.
