Geocache Description:

Our family thought it would be great to explore the Newman Lake area. We each chose different areas to place a cache and give some history on the nearby area (the cache may not be located exactly as the history states but is close to the original location). Please enjoy the series: remember to bring a writing utensil, there is $.50 for FTF along with some geo swag, and as always feel free to CITO.



NEWMAN LAKE HISTORY TOUR 7 – AIRPORT (WN54)

At Newman Lake between about 1925 and 1926 a double wing plane that probably had a top speed of 50 to 60 mph, flew over the lake for quite a while. To entertain the viewers, one man flew the plane and another man walked out on the lower wing, moving around by holding onto the struts between the two wings. He waved at the many viewers on the lakeshore, who were thrilled by his action.
