The cache is placed on Rocky Mountain, in the Western Mournes.
It's another of our slightly more easily accessed mountain caches,
but still warrants usual safety proecedures when walking in the
Mournes. There are paths for part of the way to the cache and for
the most part it is a fairly easy hike. On a day with good
visibility the views are wonderful.
Park at Leitrim Lodge carpark and from there you'll find your
route. Leitrim carpark is the starting point for a number of walks
in the Western Mournes. You can follow the track along Rocky River
to the ford on Rowan Tree river for a panoramic view of
Slievemoughan, Tornamarock and Rocky Mountain.
While here you can easily access another cache (if you haven't
already) "Pierces Castle".
THE CACHE is a medium sized tablock box with geocaching
label. When placed it contained a logbook, pen, pencil, sharpener
and some swaps.
It received its rather obscure name when a hungry family member
mentioned how she'd love a "Rocky" biscuit right now:)
