Our family thought it would be great to explore the Newman Lake area. We each chose different areas to place a cache and give some history on the nearby area (the cache may not be located exactly as the history states but is close to the original location). Please enjoy the series: remember to bring a writing utensil, there is Seahawk Pin FTF along with some geo swag, and as always feel free to CITO.
NEWMAN LAKE HISTORY TOUR 32 - SITTING PRETTY

W J Wilson who came to Spokane in the 1800’s started the well known Wilson Pickle Company about 1906. The plant was built north of Trent Avenue and east of Hamilton Bridge. Wilson had John Laughlin build a cabin on the peninsula of Newman Lake in 1925, which he named “Sitting Pretty”. It was named this for his wife, who would sit & look out over the lake. After Wilson retired, his son Fred ran the business for many years. The company had several large fields in the Spokane Valley were in the 1930’s and 1940’s many young people found jobs. Clyde Clark inherited and ran the business for many years and then in the 1960’s sold it to the Layrite Company.
Congratulations to LLCOOL for FTF!
